Minnie Francis

Minnie Brown Francis, age 100 died Monday, August 28, 2006. She was born in Richwoods Community near Arkadelphia, AR on March 12, 1906. After a career with the federal government in Hooks, TX, Dallas, TX and Kansas City, MO, she and her husband Harvey retired to Caddo Valley near Arkadelphia. Following Harvey's death in 1976 she moved to Arlington, TX to be near her children and grandchildren. Minnie loved sports, especially watching baseball and football on television. She was an avid bridge and Rook player and loved listening to classical music. Other than her family, Minnie's great love was her church. For many years, Minnie taught Sunday school classes and served as church pianist at the First Baptist Church in Hooks, TX, where she was a member. After moving to Arlington, she became a member of the First Baptist Church of Arlington. Minnie always went the extra mile to help others and was known for her compassion and generosity.

Survivors include two sons, Robert Francis and wife, Flo of Arlington, TX and James Francis and wife, Sarah of Mt. Vernon, TX; one brother, Jack Brown and wife, Martha of Dawson Springs, KY; grandchildren, Chris Brown and wife, Jodie of Euless, Tx and Terri Crawford and husband, John of Grand Prairie, TX; seven great grandchildren, Chris and Makenzie Francis, Brandt and Kellie Frazier, Johnny, Ashley and Katelyn Crawford; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be 11:00 AM. Saturday, Sept 2, 2006 in the Golden Cemetery under the direction of Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Caddo Valley Baptist Church 175 Malvern Rd, Arkadelphia, AR 71923 or Trinity Hospice, 6850 Manhattan #250, Ft Worth, TX 76120.
