Mildred Kent

Mildred Parker Kent, 85, formerly of Arkadelphia, died Tuesday, September 18, 2007, in Waco, TX. She was born July 18, 1922, in Joan, AR, to Joseph Wiley and Zella Williams Parker.

After graduating from high school in Arkadelphia, she moved to Dallas where she lived for over 50 years. After graduating from Draughons Business College, she married Robert Lee Newton and had three daughters. In 1961, she began her career in the skin care business and ultimately retired as the owner of Millie's Facial Firm.

Upon retirement, she and her second husband, Jack Kent moved to Callisberg, Texas, and then after his death, she moved to Denton. There she was a member of the First United Methodist church and was active in the Bungalow Sunday School Class, W.M.U. and volunteered for the Denton Independent School District. In 2004, she sold her home and moved to Waco where she remained until her death.

She was loved and is survived by her daughters and their husbands: Ann and William May, McGregor, TX; Kathy Hutto and Allen Beinke, Austin, TX; Nancy and Johnny Hahn, Houston, TX; her grandchildren, Karen and Trey Spalding, Denton, TX; Jeff May, Austin, TX; and Liz and Justin Donnell, Dallas, TX; her great-grandchildren, Lauren and Katherine Spalding, Denton, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, September 20, at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home, Arkadelphia.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 21, at Bethlehem Methodist Church with burial following at Bethlehem Cemetery, Joan, AR.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
