Mildred C. Engster, 86, of North Little Rock died on July 5, 2009. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother ? a true matriarch. She spent her life dedicated to God, her family, and volunteerism.
She was a past Regent and active member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Queen of Peace No. 1809. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Altar Society.
Having served as a volunteer at the American Red Cross for 30 years and Baptist Memorial Medical Center for 9 years, volunteerism was a very important aspect of her life.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Harry William (Bill) Engster, her oldest son, William R. (Billy) Engster, and daughter, Karen Engster Fort Pearce. She is survived by sons, John Robert (Bobby) Engster of North Little Rock, and Gary Engster of Hot Springs; daughters, Christy Alsbrook and husband Bernie of North Little Rock and Lisa Fuglaar and husband Keith of Overland Park, Kansas; grandchildren, John M. Engster, Commander Brian P. Fort, USN and wife Kelli, Laura Fort McCammon and husband Quint, David Fort, Steven Fort, Rob Engster, Rachel Engster, Nick Alsbrook and wife Frances, Scott Alsbrook and wife Stephanie, Hannah Fuglaar, and Lauren Fuglaar; great-grandchildren, Kali Engster, Jamie Brown, Madison Fort, Olivia Fort, Macy McCammon, Seth McCammon, Jewell Fort, David Fort, Jr., John Hudson Fort, Drew Engster, Anna Alsbrook, and Andrew Alsbrook. She is also survived by her sister, Gerri Thompson of Monroe, Louisiana, and brother, Ira W. Thompson, Jr., of Lafayette, Louisiana and half-brother, Donald Andrews of Oklahoma.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at 6:00 P.M., followed by a rosary at 7:00 P.M. at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 at Immaculate Conception Church, 7000 John F. Kennedy Blvd., North Little Rock. Burial will be at Rest Hills Memorial Park, 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock.
Memorials may be made to Mount St. Mary Academy, Catholic High School for Boys, or Hospice Home Care. The family will be at 1817 Mill Creek Circle, North Little Rock.
