Mike McCourt

Mike McCourt, 74, of Sherwood passed away Friday, June 10, 2011. He was born Owen Michael McCourt on November 25, 1936 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Owen Eugene and Mary Stella McCourt. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church in North Little Rock, graduated from St. Mary's High School in St. Louis and from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a degree in Economics in 1960 where he was a Phi Kappa Theta. Following college he served as a medic in the Army, stationed in San Antonio. He was a master gardener, worked for the Measuregraph Company in St. Louis, Southern Screw Machine Products in Jacksonville. Mike retired from Southern Tool and Dye in Poplar Bluff, Missouri in 2004.
He is survived by his daughters, Bridget Gately (Neil), of Wamego, Kansas and Patsy McCourt, of Gardner, Kansas; son, Sean McCourt, of Sherwood; two grandchildren, Wes and Erin Gately; and sister, Maureen McCourt, of St. Louis, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Keilty McCourt; sister, Pat Vize and brother-in-law, Dave Vize.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, 6150 Remount Road, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72118.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at St. Anne Catholic Church. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday followed by a rosary service at 7:00 p.m., at North Little Rock Funeral Home, 1921 Main St., 758-1170.
