Michael Salkeld

Michael Lynn Salkeld, 55, of Sherwood, AR departed this life and went to his heavenly home on March 1, 2018 due to diabetic complications. He was born March 26, 1962 in North Little Rock, AR to Wilmer and Maxine Salkeld. He graduated from Ole Main High School in 1980 and from Henderson State University in 1984 with a Bachelor of Music Education. He was a member of Graves Memorial Baptist Church. Mike's passions in life were teaching and singing for his Lord. He was on staff at several churches in Pulaski County over the last 30+ years; including Chicot Road Baptist Church, Pike Avenue Baptist Church, Crystal Valley Baptist Church, Brookwood Baptist Church, Amboy Baptist Church and Calvary Baptist Church. He loved to sing and he did it very well. He had many talents and abilities. His career path took many twists and turns starting as a waiter at Farrell's Ice Cream Parlor while he was still in high school. That was one of his favorite jobs he ever had. After college, he worked as a public school teacher, draftsman, estimator and project manager in a variety of fields. Michael had a witty, unpredictable sense of humor and thoroughly enjoyed life until illness took its toll.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandparents; Claud and Avis Gore and Elda Lynn and Edna Salkeld.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Vicky Lane Salkeld; his daughter, Stephanie Jeffers and her husband Michael; his granddaughters, Jordan and Whitney Jeffers; his sister, Pamela Salkeld; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. A special thanks to Dr. Jay Holland for over 25 years of extraordinary care.
Michael will be remembered as a fine Christian man who loved his family and his Lord.
