Michael Henry Russell

Michael Henry Russell, 77, peacefully passed away on February 3, 2025. Born in Sparkman, Arkansas, on April 30, 1947, Michael's life was marked by dedication, love, and a strong sense of faith, which he demonstrated throughout his years.

He had a fulfilling career as a commercial carpenter, proudly employed at CBM Construction, where he ultimately retired. Michael's life was not just defined by his work, but also by his unwavering commitment to his faith, as he loved the Lord and played a significant role in leading many to salvation. His warmth and personality resonated with those around him. He was known for his humor, often delighting friends and family with jokes, and was also known to break into spontaneous song and dance, filling the room with his vibrant spirit.

One of Michael’s proudest accomplishments includes being a member of the Fraternity of Freemasonry, particularly as part of Masonic Lodge 34, highlighting his commitment to brotherhood and community service.

Michael was a devoted father to his sons: Brent (Kim) Russell of Haskell, AR, Brian Russell of OK, and Jason Russell of Alexander, AR. He was a beloved grandfather to his grandchildren: Ashley (Adan) Garcia of Haskell, AR, Paige (Tyler) Smith of Benton, AR, and Nadine (Briar) Kilburn of Haskell, AR. Furthermore, he proudly cherished his great-grandchildren: Jonah, Gabriel, Jaxson, Bleu, Kyndall, Ryder, Alex, Cross, and Elena. In addition to his immediate family, Michael is remembered fondly by a host of nieces, nephews, and numerous close friends.

Michael is preceded in death by his wife, Debra K. Russell; his parents, John H. and Ola Merle Russell; his brother, John S. Russell; and his great-granddaughter, Presley A. Eanes.

To honor Michael’s memory and to celebrate his life, visitation will be held on Monday, February 10, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 2:00 PM at Smith Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market St., Benton, AR, 72015. Burial will take place at Rosemont Cemetery following the service at 3:00 PM.

The service will be officiated by his son, Brian Russell, and pallbearer honors have been entrusted to Adan Garcia, Tyler Smith, Briar Kilburn, Jonah Russell, Jaxson Russell, and Gabriel Smith, with honorary pallbearers Cross Smith and Ryder Kilburn.

Michael Henry Russell will be remembered for his laughter, his faith, and the love he shared with his family and friends. He has left a loving legacy that will be held dear in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.
