Michael D. Hooker

Michael D. Hooker, 71, of Benton, AR, left this world for his heavenly home on April 11, 2025. He was born May28, 1953 in San Diego, California to Dalie Herman and Corine Wilson Hooker. Michael proudly served his country, enlisting in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. After his service in the Navy, he worked as a mechanic, primarily honing his craft of installing custom exhausts, until he retired in 2014.

Preceded in death by his parents, Michael is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia, his two sisters, Sherry (Joe) Bratton of Sheridan, AR, and Paula Velazquez of Springdale, AR, as well as a number of other relatives and friends.

Michael was a devoted husband and a man of God, having accepted Jesus as his Savior at an early age. He served as a deacon at Highland Heights Baptist Church in Benton, AR, for over twenty years until his illness would no longer permit him to do so. He will be remembered for his quiet spirit, his gentle demeanor, and his loyalty to others. He touched the lives of those who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of devotion, kindness, and service to others.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 1:00 PM on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Highland Heights Baptist Church, 1421 Alcoa Rd, Benton, AR, followed by a celebration of Michael's life at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Mt. Harmony Cemetery, 246 Mt. Harmony Drive, Haskell, AR. Pastor Brian Moore will officiate with Smith Benton Funeral Home directing.

Michael's family wishes to extend their gratitude and thankfulness to the staff at The Springs of Pinnacle Mountain for their love and care for him for the last 15 months. His family will forever be grateful for their dedication to him. A Thank You is also extended to Gentiva Hospice for their special care for him in the last few weeks of his life.
