Michael Jonas Berry

MICHAEL J. BERRY, 50, of Little Rock, passed away March 1, 2023, at home with his loving family after a courageous battle with glioblastoma brain cancer.

He was born to Robert and Elizabeth Berry on October 12, 1972, in Valparaiso, Indiana.  He graduated from Oak Grove High School, class of 1991.  He earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of Arkansas, where he was associated with Sigma Nu fraternity.  He then completed his Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from University of Arkansas - Little Rock and worked as a Plumbing and Fire Protection Designer at Pettit & Pettit Consulting Engineers.

Mike leaves behind his wife, Milly (Dees) Berry; son, Jonas (11) and daughter, Addison (8); brothers, Patrick Scott Berry (Helen) of Somerville, Massachusetts, Robert Berry, Jr. (Shawn), and Jonathan Berry (Jennifer) all of Little Rock; 7 nieces and nephews, and many close friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents.

Mike was passionate about life and making the most of every day.  He poured his heart into renovation and restoration projects and worked tirelessly until a project was complete.  His greatest joy was his wife and children.  He never wanted to miss any aspect of his children’s lives and always encouraged them to do their best.  He enjoyed being outdoors, spending weekends at the baseball field, biking with the kids, hiking trails, and reveling in Razorback game days.  He will be forever remembered for his genuine kindness and uplifting spirit.

Over the past year of Mike’s life, the outpouring of support from his entire family, a long list of truly amazing and caring friends, and compassionate coworkers was unbelievable.  He was often overwhelmed at how much love and support he was shown.  Mike heartily believed in the good of all people and this belief was only reinforced during this time.

A celebration of Mike’s life will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to brain cancer research through the Glioblastoma Foundation in his honor.
