Melvin Leroy Carter Jr., 54 of Mayflower, passed away Sunday, January 31, 2010 in Conway . He was born November 3, 1955 in Wichita, Kansas; he was the son of Melvin Carter Sr. & Jo Ann Pritchard Carter.
Melvin will be remembered for being a loving daddy, devoted husband and proud papa, who was a wonderful cook, who had a passion for gardening and weather, and formerly pastored three churches.
Survivors include his wife Crystal Carter of Mayflower; daughters Melissa (Brian) Burroughs and Jennifer (Ryan) Bethune; parents Melvin Carter Sr. & Jo Ann Carter; grandmother Mary Alice Pritchard; grandchildren Seth Burroughs, Cole Burroughs, Jayson Burroughs, Judah Burroughs, Rylie Bethune, and Aubrin Bethune; a brother Mark (Tammy) Carter; sisters Terri (Gil) Perrigo, Sharanna (Randy)Nowicki; and a sister in law Holly (Ken) Rutchey.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at First Baptist Church of Mayflower with Rev. Jimmie Sheffield officiating. Interment will be held at the Mayflower Cemetery. At the request of the family, please wear bright colors to the funeral service in honor of Melvin's memory.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at Huson Funeral Home in Sherwood.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in memory of Melvin to the First Baptist Church of Mayflower Building Fund.
