Melva Beth White

Melva Beth White, age 73, of Langley, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, February 20, 2023.

Beth was born on January 16, 1950, at her parent’s home near Glenwood.  She was the daughter of “Lewis” Joseph Jenkins and Minnie “Coleen” Jones Jenkins.

On December 1, 1972, she married “Emmitt” Carl White, her loving husband of 49 years.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt White of Langley; her parents, Lewis and Coleen Jenkins of Glenwood; and her brother, Danny Jenkins of Glenwood.

She was a member of Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church for many years, was a retired broiler grower for 35 years, and a 4-H leader for ten years.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Deborah and Cole Hammock of Langley, Stephen and Julie White of Port St. Joe, Florida and Misty and Matt Partee of Daisy; her grandchildren, Mary Beth, Macy, Reece, Stephen, Jr., Tori and Cally Jo; her great-grandchildren, Emma and Miles; her sister-in-law, Gwen Jenkins of Glenwood; her cousin who was like a sister, Sherry Wilson of Glenwood; her special friends, Helen Arivett, Jeannie York, Dorthy Arivett, Avonne Petty, Patsy Morphew and Vanessa Tedder; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, her church family and friends.                       

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, February 24, 2023, in the Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church in Langley with Bro. Keith Shewbart and Bro. Scott Feemster officiating.

Visitation will be held Thursday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood, 209 North Third Street, Glenwood, Arkansas 71943.

Interment will be in the Langley Hall Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jim White, Roger York, Randy Markham, Tony Morphew, Eric Jenkins and John Morphew.

Honorary pallbearers will be Michael Bright, Kaleb Cogburn, Kolen Cogburn, Terrell Davis, Bob Morphew, Ben Burkhart, Terry Spears and LeRoy Arivett.
