Meldia E. Rose

Meldia E. Rose, 83, of Little Rock, went to be with her Lord on January 8, 2023. She was born March 31, 1939, in Morrilton, AR to the late Dell and Grace Edwards.

She attended North Little Rock High School and Arkansas Teachers College (UCA). She retired from the Bureau of Legislative Research on August 29, 2008, after twenty-seven years of service with the Bureau. She joined the Bureau as a Reference Analyst on August 24, 1981, after earlier service at the Arkansas State Library and the North Little Rock and Little Rock public libraries. Meldia’s diligent work ethic, thoughtfulness, and willingness to assist others made her a valuable employee.

Meldia was a very selfless and giving person. She was so supportive and encouraging and proud of her daughters. She always looked outside of herself. It brought her joy to see others happy and smiling. She was such a strong and giving person.

She taught her daughters how to be “ladies”. It was very important to her for them to grow up having manners and being polite. She was very proud of her faith and instilled that in them also. She and her daughter, Lisa, owned a gift shop. It gave her the opportunity to spend more time with her grandson, who she adored. She loved her trips to visit Stephanie in California.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa Rew (Mike), Tonya Fischer (Russ), and Stephanie Rose (Michael Cohen); grandson, Zackary Rew; and brother Dusty Edwards (Lequeweda).

Rosary and visitation will be 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm, Thursday, January 19, 2023, at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. The funeral service will be 1:00 pm, Friday, January 20, 2023, at Christ the King, 4000 N Rodney Parham Rd, followed by an interment at Pinecrest Cemetery.
