Maymie was born in Slovak, Arkansas and attended school there for eight years and then attended Holy Angels Academy in Jonesboro. She married Emmett in 1954; they were married for 45 years until his death in August of 2000. Over the years Maymie enjoyed many hobbies, including painting and riding award winning racking horses. Maymie also loved her gardens whether it was flowers or vegetables. Her family lovingly called Maymie "Bobo". She raised her family and opened her home to many others over the years. There was always room for more at the table, and you truly understood the meaning of comfort food, made with love.
In 1974 Maymie graduated from nursing school and worked in the geriatric field for most of her career. She retired from Beebe Nursing Home in June of 2006 at the age of seventy.
For the last 5 years she fought valiantly with cancer. Despite her challenges she just hopped and skipped through the numerous chemo and radiation treatments and after two brain surgeries came out to her delight "wiggling her fingers and toes".
As "Bobo" always said "May the angels be with you, in front of you, behind you and on both sides. May they keep you safe in all of your travels to and from.
