Maxine Austin Standerfer, age 89, of Story, passed away Saturday, January 12, 2019. She was born on June 10, 1929, in Aly, the daughter of Charles Henry Austin and Voyza Lee Smith Austin. On December 23, 1947, she was married to Dick Standerfer who preceded her in death on October 5, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Bill Tom Austin and Bobby Joe Austin; and her son-in-law, Edward Lee Jones. Maxine was a member of the Union Hill Church and served as church pianist. She was a woman of faith, a prayer warrior and ministered to others. Maxine enjoyed fishing, laughing and loved life. She was a great cook and adored the time she spent with her family. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Rusty and Darla Standerfer and Larry Dean and Tanya Standerfer, all of Mount Ida; two daughters and one son-in-law, Daphna Jones of Mount Ida and Vonda and Eudell Brown of Mena; three grandchildren, Zackery Standerfer, Heidee Jackson and her husband, Branden and Skye Anderson; three great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Harper and Josie; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 15, 2019, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. James Cogburn and Bro. Herman Woodard officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 1:00 PM until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Reed Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Charlie Austin, Branden Jackson, Donald Austin, Roger Smith, Dennis Hunt and Zackery Standerfer. Guest registry is at www.davis-smith.com.
