Max Hammett
Max Ann Hammett, 81, of Little Rock, passed away January 28, 2016. She was born in Baldwyn, Mississippi to William and Lois Scott Hammett.
Preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Kimberly McGee, and the father of her children, James W. McGee, she is survived by her son, Greg McGee of Little Rock; daughters, Lesae McGee of Little Rock, Rhonda Kelton (Jerry) of Booneville, Mississippi and Gina McGee of Little Rock; brother, Harold Hammett of Bay, Arkansas; grandchildren, Erin McGee, Caitlin McGee, Phoebe Chandler and Zoe Gavin; and great-grandson, Oliver Fox McGee.
Our Mom was the Best of Moms - strong of spirit, loving, caring and fun! She taught us well to take care of one another, love your family, work hard and Love the Lord! Mom was a Master Multi-Tasker and always made plenty of time for her children and her work! Mom was brave and adventurous! Her stories never got old about cooking on tug boats up and down the Mississippi River. Later, after receiving her Merchant Marine License, she cooked on tugs and ships in the Caribbean Sea and the Bering Strait. She also flew in helicopters out to cook on oil rigs in the Gulf of Mexico. As she got older, she became an in-home caregiver for the elderly which she truly enjoyed. I know Heaven can always use a great cook and caregiver, so everyone there is In Luck! I'm sure Mom is drinking coffee, talking someone's ear off and giving them a "life lesson."
Her work is done! Certainly her rewards are abundant! Let us celebrate her life and her influence on our lives! We are happy for Mom and we hope that all of you will be happy for her, too! We love you, Mom!
Services will be held on Saturday, January 30 at 11:00 a.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to AETN Foundation, 350 S. Donaghey, Conway, AR 72034.
