Max English, 99, of Hot Springs, Arkansas, passed away May 19, 2023.
He was born and reared in Northeast Pennsylvania. He attended school in Mt. Pleasant Township PA, and he graduated from Scott Township High School in 1941. He entered the U.S. Army in 1943, and he served until he retired in 1977. He served in Europe where he saw combat and he also served in The South Pacific, WWII and Iceland.
Max was a member of The Diamondhead Community Church, where he served as a trustee and head usher.
He served 10 years on The Diamondhead Board of Directors where he was president for five years.
Max was a charter member of The Lions Club in Diamondhead. He worked on the golf course as a volunteer from 1978 till his death. He served the Lions Club by doing can collection through the community and giving the proceeds to the Lions Club. He did this for 25 years, turning in $700 to $800 each year.
He served his country, church and community far beyond the call of duty. Max loved everyone, especially his golfing buddies and his best friend and wife, Lou.
Max was preceded in death by his four brothers and one son.
He is survived by two sisters, his wife, a son and two grandchildren. He will be missed by all.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 5, 2023, at Diamondhead Community Church.
