Max R. Brown, age 93, of the Hot Springs, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2023.
He was born on May 29, 1929, in El Dorado, the son of Otis W. Brown and Alta Mae Johnson Brown. He was preceded in death by three wives, Jean Griffith Brown, Ina Shuler Brown and Fran Cook Brown. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Glenn Brown; and one sister, Donna McWilliams.
Max was a former Arkansas State Trooper before being elected sheriff to the Office of Chicot County Sheriff for the years of 1967 – 1988. He loved hunting and fishing especially on Lake Chicot. He was a very talented artist, painting western and cowboy scenes on leather hides. Max had a very outgoing, friendly nature about him, never meeting a stranger. He was quite a prankster. He loved his family with his whole heart and will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his son, Ricky Max Brown; his daughter, Vicki Boyd; three grandchildren, Jason Botsford, Claudia McClard and Daniel Max Brown; two great-grandchildren, Haley Botsford and Cameron McClard; nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
