Mavis Shelton

Mavis Shelton, age 87, of Mount Ida, passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2022.

She was born on December 20, 1934, in Bumble Bee, Arkansas, the daughter of Alvie Vernie Newcomb and Ina Ward Newcomb.  She is preceded in death by her husband W. H. “Frog” Shelton; one son, Lonnie Shelton; and her parents.

Mavis loved her flower gardens and house-plants, they brought her many years of joy.  She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family very much.  She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Nancy Kay Shelton of Royal; three daughters and sons-in-law, Janice and Don Moore and Royal, Janet and Mike Moore of Lingle, Wyoming and Nancy and John Swisher of Royal; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 1, 2022, in the Mount Tabor Cemetery with Pastor Lennon Hill officiating.

Visitation will be 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Thursday, March 31, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs.

Pallbearers will be Alex Baldwin, Ross Baldwin, Jr., Robbie Newcomb, Scott Moore, Lon Moore and George Moore.

The family would like to express a special thank you to the Montgomery County Nursing Home staff and to Arkansas Hospice for the care they gave.
