Maurice Golden

Maurice Golden, age 86, of Kirby, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2022.

She was born on July 20, 1936, in Kirby, the daughter of Roy Martin Tolleson and Annie Lee “Letha” Gurnsey Tolleson. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter-in-law, Dot Golden; and her three brothers, Sonny Tolleson, Joyce Tolleson, and Alton Tolleson.

Maurice married the love of her life, Bobby Golden, on June 3, 1955. She was a member of Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church. She was the full embodiment of a Pastor’s Wife, putting everyone before herself. Maurice was the best Mama and Mamaw that her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and everyone else she “adopted” could ask for. She loved her trips to the mountains. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and being in nature. You could always find her collecting her rocks and frogs or making a Walmart trip. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Maurice is survived by the love of her life for 67 years, Bobby Golden; her sons and daughter-in law, Mike Golden of Leola, and Randy and Diane Golden of Kirby; her grandchildren and their spouses, Melina and Jeff Lovett of Lawton, Oklahoma, Bevin Lockeby of Fayetteville. Lauran Golden of Kirby, CaSandra Golden of Kirby, Brent and Alana Williams of Sheridan, and Eric and Melanie Harrison of Sheridan; her great-grandchildren Spencer, Jacob, Tyler and Rachel, Anna, Brayden, Kelsey, Caleb, Kady, and Louie; her great-great-grandchildren, Walker, Alora, and Evelyn; her special nieces and nephews, Ronnie and Sherry Whisenhunt, and Danny and Gwen Turner; her “third” son, Danny Britt; her best friend, Katherine “Kit” Helmers; and numerous extended family members and a host of wonderful friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 29, 2022, in the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Brent Williams officiating.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Bear Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Richard Tolleson, Rex Tolleson, Danny Britt, Kevin Golden, Steve Crump, Clay Crump, Ronnie Whisenhunt, and Donnie Lynch.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill Golden, Walter Turner, Ed Cowart, Wes Johns, Mike Putz, Ed Gaines, Lana Holder, Lynn Tolleson, Kit Helmers, and Kaitlin, Adley, Kelly, Catherine, Shelley, and Kenya of Kindred Hospice.
