Matthew Waters
Matthew C. Waters, 76, of Little Rock, passed away on Thursday, December 11, 2008. Born April 9, 1932 in Brewton, Alabama to M. G. and Annie Crook Waters, he was a graduate of Auburn University and a U. S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was owner and operator of the Matt C. Waters Company for forty-one years and an active member and deacon of First Baptist Church.
Matt loved flying, photography and woodwork, but closest to his heart were the many years he took care of his grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Gramps."
He is survived by his wife, Annette Carter Waters; son, Brian Calvin Waters of Fayetteville; daughter, Beth Hodde (Herb) of Fresno, California; brother, M. G. Waters, Jr. (Eloise) of Atlanta, Georgia; sister, Martha Simmons (Aquilla) of Brewton; and four grandchildren, Catie Waters of Fayetteville and Lauren, Ben and Alyssa Hodde of Fresno. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Matthew Alan Waters.
The family will greet friends on Monday, December 15 from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), Little Rock. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 16 at First Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Jim Lagrone and Dr. John Wright. Burial will be private. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 62 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock, AR 72212.
