Mary Kate “Katie” Keith, 77, of Benton, Arkansas passed away September 30, 2021. She was born May 26, 1944 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late George Diel Chance, Jr., and Mildred Major Chance.
Katie leaves behind, to cherish her memory, her devoted husband, Jim Keith of Benton, Arkansas, and daughter, Lisa Keith of Dallas, Texas. Jim was the love of Katie’s life, married for almost 60 years.
Katie had a marvelous sense of humor, was extremely quick witted and loved to laugh. She was an avid reader of all genres of books. Music was a source of happiness for her and she collected her favorites. Christmas was her favorite holiday, rivaling Santa himself in celebration and merriment; she passed that love of the holidays and traditions to Lisa. She loved the mountains; the Great Smoky Mountains National Park was one of her favorite places on earth.
Katie grew up in Benton and loved being a Panther cheerleader in high school. Katie, with Jim and Lisa, lived in Morristown, Tennessee and Pine Bluff, Arkansas before returning to her hometown of Benton.
Preceding Katie in death are her parents and three brothers: George Diel Chance III., Victor Pat Chance and David Robin Chance.
Per Katie’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Katie’s honor to a charity of your own choice.
