Mary Ann Wells, 78, of North Little Rock passed away Monday, February 3, 2014. She was born to the late Louis and Lula Gershner on May 27, 1935. She was a graduate of North Little Rock High School Class of 1953. Ann was a Southwestern Bell long distance operator for 32 years and a lifetime member of AT&T Pioneers. She was also an avid animal lover.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan L. Hoper (Jim) of North Little Rock; one grandson, Brian Wainwright and his wife, Rhose Hill Wainwright of Little Rock; two stepsons, Jason Hoper (Tammie) of North Little Rock and Jacob Hoper of Little Rock; four great-grandchildren, Korben Wainwright, Jarin Hoper, Noah Fuqua and Layla Grace Hoper; one brother, Louis Gershner, Jr. (Carolyn) of Newport Richie, Florida; and a sister, Helen Uekman of North Little Rock.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack A Wells, two sisters, Adeline (Butch) Haynes and Dorothy Spivey (Orville); and sister-in-law, Norma Gershner.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pulaski County Humane Society, 14600 Colonel Glenn Rd, Little Rock, AR 72210.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday in the Chapel of North Little Rock Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rest Hills Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:00 P.M.
