Mary Smalling
Mary Catherine Conway Smalling, 91 of Jonesboro, formerly of North Little Rock, passed into the heavenly presence of her Savior, Thursday, May 31, 2012. She was born in Vilonia, Arkansas, March 3, 1921 to K.H. Conway & Lillie Mae Davis, the second of four children.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 68 years, Warren; brother, Lester; sister Pearl McKenzie. Survivors include two daughters Kay Francis (Gary), Georgetown, Texas; Fay Guinn (Don), Jonesboro, Arkansas; brother Charles Conway, Vilonia; grandsons ; Josef Hall (Heather), Nathan Hall (Truly), Austin, Texas; Damon Guinn (Paula), Kansas City, Missouri; Cullen Guinn, Portland, Oregon, and Nick Guinn (Katie Rae) Jonesboro, Arkansas.
She was a devoted member of Brockington Rd. Church of the Nazarene where she served as a board member, Sunday School Teacher, Greeter, Shut in Ministry Leader and organizer of bereavement meals. Taught by her parents to love and serve God, she passed that tradition down to her children. She never got tired of serving and giving to others. A warm, friendly smile greeted everyone she met.
She worked at North Little Rock Electric Department and later Utilities Accounting as assistant office manager. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling & camping with her husband, attending Bible Study Fellowship, helping her daughter, Fay, at arts & crafts shows where she displayed her exceptional ability at selling, and babysitting her grandsons whom she loved immeasurably.
Mud, We will miss our Saturday shopping trips & BBQ's at the Shack, your sweet smile, gentle nature, playful spirit, Godliness, legacy of prayer, and generosity that went far beyond necessity. Enjoy your new heavenly home forever with Jesus.
Visitation is 10:00, Monday, June 4 at Huson's Funeral Home, Sherwood, AR. Memorial Service will be at 11:00 with Rev. Joe Lee Tompkins & Rev. Gary A. Francis officiating.
