Mary Ruth "Jodie" Magby Rhodes, 78, of Benton, Arkansas passed away September 9, 2019 at Saline Memorial Hospital. She was born July 25, 1941 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to the late Roy and Bertha Mae (Beachamp) Trammel Magby.
Jodie delivered newspapers for the Saline Courier for the last eight years. Her customers referred to her as "Ms. Mary". She was committed to her job and threw her last paper route Friday, just three days prior to her passing. Jodie loved her family and spending time with her children. They looked forward to the delicious meals she would prepare when the whole family would get together. Jodie enjoyed reading books and had a huge library of hard back books. Her favorite author was Danielle Steele. Jodie also liked to spend quiet moments sewing and crocheting.
Preceding Jodie in death are her parents; son, Bobby Wayne Burgess; brother-in-law, Charles Tuck; and sister, Brenda Glenn.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories her children: Ronnie Burgess of Sunset, Louisiana, Tammy Jean Brookshire and husband Bill of Flippin, Arkansas, David Rhodes of Mabelvale, Arkansas, and Ricky Rhodes and wife Tonya of Glen Rose, Arkansas; grandchildren: Adam Lee Burgess and wife Jessica, Nicole Colon and husband George, Cassie Williams, Elizabeth De'Anne Williams, Marshall Rhodes, Taylor Rhodes, Jacob Rhodes and wife Emily, Jared Rhodes, and Alex Rhodes; several great-grandchildren; siblings: Wayne Tucker and wife JoAnn, Sheila Carter, Linda Tuck, Billy Trammel and wife Karen, and Nancy Downs Trammel; and a host of family and friends who love Jodie and will miss her always.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday, September 12, at Smith-Benton Funeral Home, 322 N. Market Street, Benton, Arkansas. Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, September 13 at Caddo Valley Cemetery in Arkadelphia.
