Mary Meekins Nutter, 85, died Sunday morning, October 14th in her Little Rock home with family. She was born October 22nd, 1921 in Lakesville, Maryland to Reita Augusta Wallace and Freed ?Bunch? Meekins. Widowed in 1997 after 47 years of marriage to Arthur Eugene Nutter, she is survived by siblings, Bill Meekins and Lois Bockneck; children, Richard Nutter and Phoebe Wessinger; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; many adoring nieces, nephews, and friends. Known as Mom, Nanny, Aunt Mary, Auntie, and Miss Pearl, she was loved by so many and her life touched, inspired, and influenced those close to her to carry on her compassion and strength. Though Mary endured numerous hardships throughout her life, she could always light up a room with her sense of humor, sharp wit, and unconditional kindness. She loved good food and was famous for her homemade navy bean soup, chicken and dumplings, lasagna, fried chicken, and crab cakes, but raw oysters were her favorite food in the world. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life at Pulaski Heights Presbyterian Church on Thursday, October 18th at 1:30pm officiated by the Reverend Holly Patton.
