Mary Milligan

Mary Ellen (Laws) Milligan, 82, of Little Rock, AR. passed from this world Thursday, December 22, 2022. She was born February 17, 1940 in Forrest City, AR to Virgil Laws and Clara (Lentz) Laws.

Mary worked for the Forrest City School system where she taught Braille and Special Education until she moved to Hot Springs where she worked in case management for Community Counseling Associates until she retired. She continued to live in Hot Springs until 2019 when she relocated to Little Rock, AR. She lived her last years at Andover Place Apts where she formed many caring and supportive friendships. Mary enjoyed reading, spending time with her family and friends, watching the Game Show Network, and spoiling her dog, Spud.  

She is survived by her children; Risa Burgess Platt (Ritchie) and Kevin Burgess (Lisa). She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: James Joseph Platt and Thomas Edwin Platt of North Little Rock, Tyler Burgess (Larissa) of Salem, OH, Kyle Burgess of Columbia, SC, Ginny Dotson (Max) of Florence, AL, Ben Burgess of Charlotte, NC, Clay Mantegani of Springdale, AR, Haley McKinney (Sean) of Siloam Springs, AR, and 9 great grandchildren (Lucas, Levi, Ellie, Nicole, Neveah, Gannon, Remington, Langston, and Kenzlee). Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gary Milligan; the father of her children, Donald Burgess; her brother, Wilford Laws; and her youngest son, Donald Keith Burgess.  

A memorial service is schedule for Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 1pm at Smith North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel.  Interment will be held privately at a later date.
