Mary Lockard

Mary Ellen Lockard went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, December 24, 2014. She was born in Maynard, Arkansas February 8, 1922 to J.T. and Martha Caroline Lockard.
She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Carl, Lawrence, Harold and Truett; four sisters, Bessie, Lorene, Iris and Aline. She is survived by a nephew, John L. (Peggy) Jones, of DeQueen; two nieces, Sue (Jerry) Hill, of Cabot and M. Lillian Taylor of Ward; and twelve grand nieces and nephews.
She attended Cabot High School, Beebe Jr. College and the University of Arkansas. She began a teaching career lasting 46 years with many years at Parham Elementary in Little Rock. She spent 12 years teaching learning disabilities children at UAMS.
In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, especially to Australia and the Holy Land, and ceramics and painting. She was a member of ADK-KKI, North Little Rock Women City Club, a volunteer at the Hays Center, and a member of Park Hill Baptist Church since 1964, teaching Sunday school until her health declined.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to Greystone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center staff for their wonderful care.
Memorials may be made to Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 East C Street, North Little Rock, Arkansas 72116.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., Monday followed by a funeral service at 10:00 a.m., at Park Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
