Mary Alice Lloyd, born on July 24, 1946, in Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on November 4 2024. She is remembered as a dedicated mother, grandmother, and sister, whose love and kindness touched the lives of many.
Mary had a notable career as a watch craftsman at Timex, where she worked diligently and retired with pride. After her time there, she found a fulfilling role at Wal-Mart on Baseline in Little Rock, serving the community for over 17 years.
Beyond her professional life, Mary was known for her compassionate spirit, particularly her love for animals. She devoted her time to rescuing abandoned dogs, offering them a safe haven and a warm home. Among her beloved pets was “Killer,” her faithful 17-year-old Shih Tzu who brought joy and companionship to her life. Mary also enjoyed dog-sitting for family and friends, showcasing her nurturing nature.
A woman of many interests, Mary found joy in watching Facebook videos, honing her skills as a talented seamstress, and curating an impressive collection of Elvis Presley memorabilia, which reflected her lifelong admiration for the King of Rock and Roll. Fiercely protective of her family, Mary had a reputation for being tough, ensuring that her loved ones were cherished and supported. Her generosity knew no bounds; she often took her family shopping for birthdays, back-to-school needs, and summer clothing, making sure they had everything they required.
Mary is survived by her loving daughters, Paula Atwood and her husband Dennis of Mabelvale, Arkansas, and Tina Eaton and her husband Greg of Hensley, Arkansas. She was a proud grandmother to Elise Myers and her husband Justin, and Abby Atwood, as well as a devoted great-grandmother to Bodhi Myers. Additionally, she leaves behind her sister, Judy Swanner of Bradenton, Florida, and nieces Melissa Jackson and her husband Mike, and Becky Stone and her husband Doug; along with many family members and friends who love Mary and will miss her always.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Louis and Pearl (Yarberry) Thompson, her brother Joe Thompson, and her grandmother Emma Thompson. Her legacy of love will endure in the hearts of many family members and friends who will cherish her memory always.
