Mary B. Denson Lawley, age 72, died Friday, 29 February 2008. She was born July 25, 1935, in Graysonia, AR, the daughter of Louis E. and Dessie Ashworth Denson. In life Mary was a devoted Army wife and first lady of the National Special Forces Association (2000-2004). She traveled the world on Special Forces missions in support of her family, and made a legion of friends worldwide. She was an ambassador "at ease among queens".
Mary is survived by her husband, Wayne Hill-Lawley, one son, Christopher Lawley (Rhonda) of Hot Springs, one sister, Doris Gill (Clarence); and extended family E. K. Boggs, Kenneth Phillips, William Dixon, Kimberly Bleichner, Linda Earnest, Ross & James Phillips, Katherine Gibbons, Sue Lester, Steve, Mark & Mike Lawley, Laura Gonzales, Donnie & Dwaine Mordecai, Stephanie Barnard and Ron Reeves.
Visitation will be 6:30-8:30 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at Hot Springs Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday in Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home chapel in Arkadelphia with VFW Commander Wade Beams and past Honor Guard Commander Gerald Cummings officiating. Committal services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Crestview Memorial Park, Hot Springs.
Pallbearers will be National Special Forces Association Chapter 49, Vietnam Veterans Association, Inc., and VFW Post 2278. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VFW Honor Guard Post 2278.
