Mary Joyce

Mary Joyce, age 82, of Gurdon, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020.  She was born December 28, 1937 to the late Jesse Parsons and Marie Finney Parsons in Delight.  Mary is also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Rev. Allen “George” Joyce; son-in-law, George Bates; and brothers, Ray and LaFate Parsons.

Mary was a member of Calvary United Pentecostal Church.  She was a minister’s wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  Mary left behind a great legacy for her daughters and grandchildren, as she had a deep love for the word of God.  She was a woman of noble character. She was a talented seamstress and a gracious hostess to all who entered her home.  Her cooking skills were second to none and she enjoyed spending time with family in the kitchen.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Ronda Bates of Gurdon, Saundra Fuentes (Hector) of Nashville; four grandchildren: Avain Spell, Kiesha Shelton, Eric Garner, and Leah Dorsey; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM Monday, December 21, 2020 at Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Gurdon.  Mary will be laying in repose Saturday and Sunday December 19 & 20th from 12:00PM – 4:00PM each day.  Burial will follow service at Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon.
