Betty Hyland, affectionately known as “Miss Betty”, was born on July 12, 1928, and departed her earthly home on September 16, 2022. She attended Arkansas State College to become a teacher. It was there that she met the love of her life, Glenn Hyland. You can’t talk about Miss Betty without talking about her husband of 73 years. They were inseparable. She loved hummingbirds, canning and sharing produce from their garden, going to her grandchildren’s activities, and attending Church; but most of all, sharing her love of the Lord with others. Miss Betty was supportive of her husband's involvement in Gideons International and was active in the Gideon Auxiliary for 35+ years. She loved to participate in Gideon Bible distributions. She looked for every opportunity to give a New Testament to someone. Family meant everything to her. Along with her two children, she had 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren that were the joy of her life. She was not afraid to share her opinion or to share stories that, at times, were surprising and often embarrassing to her grandchildren. They loved going to Mamaw and Papaw’s house. Not only did they play games that Papaw made up, but they got to drink coffee, go fishing, eat lots of Mamaw’s good cooking (AKA going to Food Camp), and go to the flea market, where on certain occasions one might bring home a pet as a surprise to their mom and dad. She would always say “that’s just wonderful”, call everyone “love” and when you got ready to leave her and told her you loved her, she would always reply “Best in the World”. There was never a dull moment when she was around. She was a selfless person putting others needs before her own. To say she was the best wife, mom, grandmother, and great grandmother is an understatement. She touched so many lives and loved unconditionally. Betty leaves behind her husband Glenn of Cabot; two children, Dennis Hyland (Lea) of Cabot; Jenny Burnett (Larry) of Benton; 3 grandchildren, Mark Burnett (Jamie) of Fort Smith, Beth Loggains, (Dowell) of Fayetteville; and Sarah Branscum (Michael) of Cabot; 6 great grandchildren, Reese, Aven, Ryne, and Conner Loggains of Fayetteville, and Eryn and Peyton Branscum of Cabot. Her smile and sweet spirit will be missed by all.
