Mary Edyth (Jane) Hughes, 102 years old, of Okolona, went home to be with the Lord, July 2, 2007, at Hillcrest Nursing at Prescott. Born January 8, 1905, in Okolona, she was the daughter of the late Henry Beecher and Mollie Dickey Hughes.
She was trained in nursing, and dedicated her life to taking care of her widowed mother. She was a member of the First Christian Church where in years past she also played the piano. She was also a member of the Benjamin Culp Chapter of the DAR.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Harmon B. Hughes, and two sisters Ruth Erin Harris and Myrna Rose Mauldin.
Survivors include three nephews, Darwin Harris of Oran, MO, Harvey Mauldin of Portland, TX, Richard Mauldin of Hot Springs Village, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 6-8 PM Friday, July 6, 2007 at the funeral home.
Services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Ruggles Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia at 1:30 pm with Pastor Lankford Moore officiating and others
sharing a word.
Burial will be at Rome Cemetery near Okolona, Arkansas.
