Mary Harris

Mary Sue Phillips Harris, 82, of Sherwood, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on April 26, 2010. Sue was surrounded by her loved ones at her son's home in Sherwood, Arkansas. She was Born on September 15, 1927 in Thiel, Arkansas to Cecil and Elma Riggan Phillips. She grew up in Hot Springs, attended Ouachita Baptist College, and later resided in Batesville and Little Rock. Sue retired March 2010 from Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism where she was an employee for over 30 years.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, Franklin J. Harris.
Sue is survived by two sons, John Harris and wife Kim and Fred Harris and wife Terris Ann all of Sherwood; grandchildren, Stephen Harris of Russellville, Carrie and husband Coy Mayer of Ward, Justin, Rachel, Matthew and Hannah Harris all of Sherwood; three great-grandsons, Trey, Caden and Cruz Mayer; two sisters, Kathryn Sanders and husband Bill of Hot Springs and Cecilia Duren and husband Don of Plano, Texas; step-mother, Naomi Phillips, step-brother, Powell Phillips both of Snohomish, Washington; sister-in-law, Virginia Harris Hagemeyer of Matthews, North Carolina; aunt, Margaret McCann of Lake Charles, Louisiana; many nieces and nephews; cousins; special neighbor, Robbie Bell; and many friends from the State Department of Parks and Tourism.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Baptist Health Hospice and her caregivers, Evelyn Vance, Felichia Rogers and Loretta Keathley.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Central Baptist Church in North Little Rock. The family will receive friends at the church after the service.
