Mary E. Bardwell, age 100, of Glenwood, passed away Wednesday, January 18, 2012. She was born on July 11, 1911, at Glenwood, the daughter of the late Oscar Hamilton and Zella Wisener Hamilton. On April 29, 1930, she was married to Vernon Bardwell who preceded her in death on June 26, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, David Bardwell; and her granddaughter, Beverly Greis. She was the oldest member of Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, and a homemaker. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, James E. and Nell Bardwell of Arkadelphia and J. Lee and Lucille Bardwell of Glenwood; one daughter and son-in-law, Florene and Eugene Parton of Glenwood; nine grandchildren, Bart Parton, Brent Parton, Brock Parton, Larry Bardwell, Randy Bardwell, Ken Bardwell and Jan Richardson; fifteen great-grandchildren; thirteen great-great-grandchildren; one sister Muriel Stroope of Glenwood; Johnnie Thornton Watson of Glenwood, who she called her adopted daughter; and Lisa Bean of Irving, Texas, who she called her adopted granddaughter. Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, January 21, 2012, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel in Glenwood with Bro. Jackie Herring officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM, prior to the services. Interment will be in the Bethel Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood. Memorials may be made to the Bethel Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 143, Glenwood, Arkansas, 71943. A specials thanks to the staff of Oak Park Village Retirement Center of Glenwood, for their loving care and friendship provided to Mary over the past four years; and to the Ouachita Hospice Service of Mena, for their excellent care.
