Mary Maxine Crews age 83 of Gurdon went to be with Jesus on March 15, 2011 from complications of Parkinson's Disease, surrounded by family who loved her very much. She was born August 15, 1927 to the late Griffin Wright and Ester Newman of Jasper, Texas. She was a member of Beech Street Baptist Church. Her husband of forty-six years, James A. Crews, brother, Charles Newman and stepmother, Ocelene Newman all preceded her in death.

She loved spending time with her family, fishing, sewing and taking care of her cats, chickens and any other animals who showed up in her yard.

Survivors are three daughters, Linda Ramos (Jacinto); Marilyn Parker (Terry) both of Benton, Arkansas; Julie Ledbetter of Bauxite, Arkansas; one son, Boyd King of Curtis, Arkansas; two brothers, T. W. Newman; Andy Dale Newman; six sisters, Cleona Hays; Louise Collins; Bertie Mallet; Glenda Roberts; Barbara Ellis and Velva Jane all of Jasper, Texas; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a very special cat, Egie.

Graveside services will be at 10:00 AM Friday, March 18th at Rose Hedge Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Thursday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers, Sue McClure; Dee Dee Perry; Baptist Hospice Support Staff and her home health team.
A very special thank you to Julie Ledbetter and Janell Glover for their excellent care. We love both of you very dearly.
