Marvin Louis William Winston, Jr., 82 of Little Rock, Arkansas passed away on January 28, 2023. He was born on January 27, 1941 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Marvin L.W. Winston Sr. and Josephine Busalaki. He graduated from St. Pius V grade school, St. Mary’s High and attended St. Louis University and the University of Missouri at Columbia.
He proudly served in the US Air Force from 1962-1966 as a medic corpsman. After his honorable service, he married Alice Delene Gilmore in 1966 and remained married until her death in 2006. Together they had four children; Marvin (Karen) Winston III, Paula Reed (deceased), Victoria (Kevin) Kordsmeier, Mary (John) Barnes.
Eleven grandchildren: Trevor Williams, John Barnes, Keegan Reed, Zachary Winston, (KC), Joseph Reed, Matthew Winston, Brandon Barnes, Caleb Winston, Chloe Kordsmeier, Ava Kordsmeier, and Sophia Barnes. Great grandsons: Ricky Lee Reed and Dawson Allen Barnes.
He married Margaret Anthony in 2009, and adored her 6 children who fondly referred to him as Papa Marvin: Amy (John) Harvey, Eric Anthony, Jeanmarie (Bernard) DeCoster, Scott Anthony, Wendy (Jorge de Luis) Anthony, Sally (Casey) Kelly; thirteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Marvin was a sales manager at Twin City Beverage in Little Rock and Harbor Distributing Company in Fort Smith. After retirement he worked part-time at Fuller and Son Hardware in Maumelle.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gun and knife collector, and an amateur radio enthusiast.
Family will receive visitors Monday, February 6, 2023 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 4000 N Rodney Parham Rd, Little Rock, AR 72212 at 9:30 AM. There will be a Rosary at 10:30 AM followed by Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be at Arkansas State Veterans Cemetery following Mass.
Memorial gifts may be made to Wounded Warrior Project and Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
