Marvin Shuffield

Marvin E. Shuffield age 91 of Pt. Cedar died Saturday, November 8, 2008. He was born August 8, 1917 in Beaton, Arkansas, the son of the late Edgar and Eulah King Shuffield. He worked in the cooper mines in Bisbee, Arizona, served in World War II, a retired cabinet and finish carpentry worker and a member of Valley Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Marvin loved teaching and singing gospel music. His wife of forty-five years, Louese Owens Shuffield; two brothers, Harold and Ray Shuffield; three sisters, Hazel Dalrymple, Gussie Theimann and Clydine McClure and one great-grandson, Ryan David Blank preceded him in death.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Pamala Shuffield of San Jose, California; one daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Jerry Burk of Bismarck, Arkansas; three granddaughters, seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Billy Joe Shuffield of Little Rock; two sisters, Mary Ceola McCuestion of Oregon and Janet Kaveney of Arizona.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Thursday, November 13, 2008 at Valley Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Kilcrease and Rev. Bruce Tidwell officiating. Interment will be in Philippi Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 PM Wednesday at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Cancer Research.
