Marvin Edgar Bowden, 81, of Little Rock, departed this life on November 27, 2010 at the VA Hospital in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born May 14, 1929 in Arkansas City, Arkansas to the late William Elmer Bowden and Lily Mae Freeman. Marvin was a member of Trinity Lodge #694, as a 32nd Degree, KCCH, Scottish Rite Mason and also the Scimitar Shrine Temple. He had been a member since November 1963 as an associate of the Directors Staff Unit. Marvin was retired from the U.S. Postal Service and proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. He was an avid supporter of the Arkansas Razorbacks and loved spending time with his family. Marvin was a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Little Rock for over 50 years.
Marvin was preceded in death by his daughter, Dianne Bowden and brothers, James and Jesse Bowden. He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Marita Bowden; son, Barclay Bowden; daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Ben Hiserodt; and four grandchildren, Jeremy and Alecia Hiserodt and Kaleb and Landon Bowden.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 1 at 2:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Little Rock Funeral Home with Reverend Jay Payne officiating. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park in Little Rock. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 30 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Scimitar Shrine Temple for the Shriners Children's Hospital, #1 Scimitar Circle, Little Rock, AR 72209-3720.
