Marty 'Moe Dee' Garrison

Marty ‘Moe Dee’ Garrison, 65, passed away on October 10, 2022, in Bryant, Arkansas. Marty was born on September 30, 1957, in Richmond, CA to Dale and Tonia Garrison.

Marty joined the Little Rock Police Department on August 11, 1975, and has served with the Patrol Division, Detention, Street Crimes Unit, Detective, Training, and Internal Affairs Divisions. He also worked with the Hostage Negotiations Unit, the 1st Street Crimes Unit and Crisis Intervention Team. Achieving the rank of sergeant, Marty has received two Medals of Merit, one Commendation Bar, three Life Saving Awards and two Officer of the Month Awards. Some of Marty’s most memorable experiences include guarding several presidents, Ronald Regan, George Bush, Sr., and George Bush, Jr. He helped save the life of a 9-year-old girl involved in a near-fatal vehicle accident. He also assisted in negotiations and the rescue of several children being held hostage by a knife-wielding suspect and hosted 22 police officers from Bergamo, Italy for a week. According to Sgt. Garrison, working for the Little Rock Police Department was the dream job of a lifetime.

Marty is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lisa; his son, Drew Garrison (Victoria); daughter, Hannah Garrison; grandson, Odin Garrison; brother, Greg Garrison (Stephanie); along with many nieces, nephews, co-workers, fellow officers and many, many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Derek Garrison.

The family will hold a Visitation on Thursday October 13, 2022, from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Smith Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct, Little Rock. A funeral service will be held on Friday October 14, 2022, at 9:00 am, at The Church at Rock Creek, 11500 W 36th St, Little Rock, with Mickey Stumbaugh officiating. Serving as pallbearers are Drew Garrison, Greg Garrison, Eli Garrison, Brandon Rodgers, Cory Garrison, Mark Ross, Mike Verkler and C.J. Davidson. Honorary pallbearers are Scott Timmons, John Stafford and Danny Sabo. Interment will immediately follow the service at 11:00 am at Pinecrest Cemetery.
