Martha "Vi" Short, age 90, of Mount Ida, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 21, 2019. She was born on March 23, 1929 in Sims, the daughter of Roland "Role" Dillard and Lillie Mae Tedford Dillard. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. J. Short; her infant daughter, Sharon Gail Stovall; her parents; and eleven brothers and sisters. She was a member of the Mount Ida Assembly of God Church and loved attending the services held at the Mount Ida Assisted Living. She enjoyed her coloring books, playing all sorts of card games, like Skip Bo, and never missed her afternoon episode of "Days of Our Lives." She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Ruth Stovall of Oden, Leon and Lamanda Stovall of Pencil Bluff and Donnie and Baretta Stovall of Sims; her daughter, Bonnie Stovall of Mount Ida; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, April 26, 2019, in the Pencil Bluff Cemetery with Bro. Horace Lawrence officiating. Visitation will be Friday, 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM, at Pencil Bluff Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
