Martha Jane May, age 84, of Kirby, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2019. She was born on June 7, 1935, in Rosboro, the daughter of John Doyle Adams and Jannie Herring Adams. On February 28, 1958, she was married to the love of her life, Roger May. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Donna May; and her parents. She was Missionary Baptist in her faith and had a special gift within herself as a healer of hurts, both physical and spiritual. She had a passion for reading and proudly served for several years on the Southwest Arkansas Library Board. It always amazed her family how she could walk into her kitchen, and though it would appear there was nothing to cook, she would become a magician and bring to the table a fabulous meal for everyone to enjoy. Martha was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, whose greatest joy in life was taking care of her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Roger May of Kirby; her son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Renay May of Hope; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Darrell Wilhite of Amity and Jorey and Clayton DeBoer of Hot Springs; six grandchildren, Japheth May and his wife, Jade, Sarai Reed and her husband, Austin, Dr. Abigail Wilhite and her fiance, James Bristow, Hank Greene, Bill Greene and Bob Greene; three great-grandchildren, Paisley Reed, Jace May and Jarett May; three brothers, John Adams of Lonsdale, Joe Adams and Tommy Adams both of Amity; one sister, Bonnie Turner of Lodi; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members; and a host of wonderful friends. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 15, 2019, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Glenwood with Bro. Jeff May officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren. While there will be no formal visitation, the family will be at the home of Darrell and Cindy Wilhite, located at 336 Herring Loop, Amity, Arkansas and graciously welcomes visitors at this time.
