Martha Hicks

Martha Ellen Tedford Hicks, 91, of Austin, Arkansas passed away December 26, 2018 at her home.  She was born June 21, 1927 to the late Marble John and Ida Tennesse (Rochelle) Tedford.

She taught Sunday school for over forty years at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member for fifty-nine years.  Martha enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, and loved to look at her flower beds.  She was always on the go and loved shopping.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and Meme.  Her family was her most treasured possession.

Martha is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald (Ray) Hicks; daughter Nancy Ellen Hicks; three brothers, Clarence, Leroy and Loye Tedford; and a sister, Mary Perkins.

She is survived by her daughter Kathy Hicks Chandler (Lewis) of Pleasant Plains; two sons Gerald “Jerry” Hicks, Jr. (Dina) of Cabot, and John Thomas Hicks of Austin; grandchildren Tara Chandler, Amber Chandler Moody, Andrea Hicks Anderson, Jerrad Hicks, Jordan Hicks, Chris Hicks, Lauren Hicks Voegele, Shannon Lupton, Tara Kelley, Kannon Holland and Konner Holland; great grandchildren, Brooke Chandler, Haylee, Jadyn, Dylan, Jackson, Lawson, Olivia, Kace and Kash; and great-great grandchild Emery.

Family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Smith-Westbrook Funeral Home, Beebe.  Funeral will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery.
