Martha Sue Farris, 78, of North Little Rock passed away Thursday, June 25, 2009. She was born May 25, 1931 to Zettie Marie and W.O. Blackwood.
A loving wife and mother, Martha Sue also devoted most of her adult life to the young people in the Sylvan Hills/Sherwood Community. She taught preschool, Vacation Bible School, substitute taught at Sylvan Hills Jr. High School and was an outstanding softball coach and mentor. In their retirement she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandson and walks on the beach. Thank you for providing such a loving Christian example for your family and all those touched by your life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Frances Gossoo; and her brother, William Oliver Blackwood, Jr. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gerald Farris; son, Don (Katherine) Farris, of Hebron, Kentucky; two daughters, Cathy (David) Hicks, of Maumelle and Sandra (Joey) Parker, of Sherwood; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Bill (Barbara) Blackwood and Harold (Bonnie) Blackwood; and her sisters, Ina Rae Gerardi and twin, Mary Lou McDonald.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Graham Reid, Kim and Margo at Baptist Medical Center; the Staff at Northridge and Arkansas Hospice for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday at North Little Rock Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Sumner Cemetery.
