Mark Dewayne Troutz, age 67, went home to his Lord and Savior on April 2nd 2025. Mark was born on September 21st 1957 in Sherman, Tx. He was much loved by his family, friends and church family. He was known for his faithful service, deep faith, enduring prayer, and his warm, happy spirit.
He spent his childhood around farms which led him to pursue a degree in agriculture at Texas A&M. After college he worked with veterinarians to provide medical care for animals. This eventually led him to Louisiana where he met his wife, Judy. They settled in Shreveport, LA where they had three daughters: Hannah, Sarah and Rachel. While in Shreveport, Mark was called by the Lord to attend New Orleans Baptist Seminary where he earned a Masters of Divinity degree.
He took a new career path with the Arkansas Cattleman’s Association which brought his family to Little Rock, AR in 2000. Here the Lord led Mark and his family to join The Summit Church in early 2001. He eventually worked for The Summit for many years and was also an Elder at The Summit in Saline County.
The Lord had given Mark a calling for ministry early in his life and this found its greatest fruition when he began to help lead the men’s ministry at Summit. Mark had a genuine love for people and enjoyed spending time and praying for people.
Mark was the definition of a prayer warrior. He spent hours in prayer daily. Often, the Lord would wake him at night with a specific person or prayer on his heart and he would immediately get up and pray. He believed that prayer was the most important aspect of his faith and he sought to pray without ceasing. He kept a prayer notebook for most of the people he came in contact with, including family, coworkers, friends, his medical teams and even strangers he would meet.
Mark fought a long, valiant battle with cancer, but he praised the Lord for the time he was given here. He often said the Lord had allowed him to remain here because there was more he was meant to do in ministry. Even in his final hours he was praying and speaking comfort into the people around him.
Mark is survived by his wife Judy, daughters Hannah, Sarah Douthit and her husband Daniel, and Rachel Soto and her husband Jose. Two granddaughters, Charlene and Sylvia. His dad, Gene Troutz and stepmother Elizabeth. His mother Pat Troutz. His brothers, Dennis Troutz (Regina) and Kenneth Troutz. He’s also survived by many nieces and nephews and other family members who loved him very much.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 6pm on Monday, April 7th 2025 at The Summit Church, 6600 Crystal Hill Rd., NLR, AR 72118.
His burial service will be at 1pm on Tuesday April 8th 2025 at Pine Forrest Cemetery 300-324 County Rd., 3310 Pickton, Tx., 75471
