Marjorie Melichar, age 82, of Glenwood, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2016. She was born on February 21, 1934 in Hot Springs, the daughter of William Alvin Provins and Margie Pearl Sutton Provins. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Melichar, Jr. She was very active in community affairs and was librarian for the Bainum Library in Glenwood. She was a member of the Glenwood Lions Club, active in Relay for Life and served as a policy board member of Head Start and CADC. She founded the annual Freedom Fest in Glenwood. She is survived by two children, Rochelle Skelton of Glenwood and Ronald Nelson of Ocala, Florida; three grandchildren, Brian Bateman, Kimberly Bateman and Christopher Carson; and her great-granddaughter, Juliet Rose White. She will be entombed in the Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California. Cremation arrangements were under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
