Marioara "Mia" Peretz

Marioara “Mia” Peretz, March 31, 1954 – May 6, 2023. Mia, 69, passed away peacefully in her home in Troy, MI surrounded by her family. During her lifetime she was a vibrant daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and friend, but her greatest joy was being Buni and adoring her eight grandsons. She is survived by her husband of 48 years Florian Peretz, her children Annemarie-Florenta (John-Emanuel), Marius (Estelle), Georgiana (John), and Elizabeth (Joshua), the grandchildren James, Joel, Josiah, Christian, John[1]Paul, Andrew, Eliah, Mattias, and countless family and friends across the USA and Romania.

Born in Orvisele, Romania to Gheorghe and Ana (dec.) Costea, she was the third oldest of five children. Raised in the hills of Orvisele among her siblings, Petru (dec.), Ioan, Florica, and Elena. Mia attended The Collegiate School for Pedagogy in Carei, Satu Mare after which she become the devoted wife of Florian Peretzin 1974, who would become her greatest love and support. Shortly afterwards, they moved to Galati, RO where she served as a Primary School Teacher before moving to Oradea, RO in 1978. This is where she lovingly raised her three children before departing for the USA in 1987, and had her fourth child a year later. She spent the rest of her years in Michigan. Yet, her days were full of love, spontaneity, servitude, sacrifice, adventure, travel, and laughter. Her greatest joy was surprising others with moments of humor, compassion, celebration and generosity.

She supported her husband for many years as they worked together building an enterprise in Romania and the US. Faithfully, she served the church they founded and helped many immigrant families build a foundation in a foreign land.  Over the years, she welcomed with open arms innumerable people into her home, cheerfully hosting, serving delicious meals, and affectionately housing others.  Effortlessly elegant, courageous, strong, encouraging, warm, and delightful, Mia had the ability to brighten any room and uplift lives. Her strong faith in Jesus Christ and family was her life and in death will be her legacy. Nothing brought her more fulfillment and joy. She will be missed deeply in every quiet moment, every celebratory song, and every gathering. Still her love and memory will live on forever.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital for cancer treatment, research, and assistance to families.
