Marilyn Jean MacConaugha, 81, peacefully passed away at her home on December 24, 2024, in Bryant, AR. Born on October 18, 1943, in Camden, NY, Marilyn was a beloved figure in her community and family, known for her loving spirit and commitment to those she cared for.
Throughout her career, she spent many years as an office manager at an apartment complex, where she earned the respect and admiration of all those around her. With a good heart and an unwavering sense of responsibility, Marilyn had a remarkable ability to care for others while maintaining the efficiency needed to excel in her position. Her blend of compassion and professionalism left a lasting impact on the lives she touched.
Family was the cornerstone of Marilyn's life. She cherished her loved ones, particularly her only granddaughter, Emily, who brought her immense joy and pride. Marilyn's nurturing nature also extended beyond her human family, as she had a special bond with her beloved cats and her special puppy dog, Shelby Dawn.
In her free time, Marilyn loved to immerse herself in the pages of a good book and cultivate her garden, where she found tranquility and fulfillment. These pursuits provided her with deep satisfaction and were reflections of her gentle spirit.
Marilyn joins in eternity, her loving husband, David MacConaugha, who retired from the US Air Force, as well as her dear parents, Theodore and Hazel Turner.
She is survived by her sons: Richard Plato, Jr. of Bryant, AR, Michael and his wife Kimberly Plato of Benton, AR; her granddaughter: Emily Plato of Benton, AR; and her sister: Nancy Ambrose of Oneida, NY.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024, at Smith Benton Funeral Home, located at 322 N Market Street, Benton, AR 72015, starting at 12:30 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
Marilyn Jean MacConaugha will forever be remembered for her kindness, strength, and the love she shared with all who were fortunate enough to know her.
