Marilyn Virginia Hodoway was born to Roy and Margaret Gathright on January 11, 1947 in El Dorado, Arkansas. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1964 and attended Arkansas Tech in Russellville. During her career she accumulated 31 years at Regions Bank and its predecessors First Commercial Bank and Commercial National Bank. She was executive assistant to bank presidents William H. Bowen and Jack Fleischauer. She completed her career as executive assistant to the President and CEO of LSV, the holding company for US Able Life. She retired at the end of 2013.

Marilyn loved to travel and she and John were married on Kapalua Beach on Maui, Hawaii. They went on a number of cruises to the Caribbean and thoroughly enjoyed those experiences. She was also an active and loving grandparent to her two grandchildren, who knew her as Mamoo, and they all enjoyed countless hours of fun.

She died at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock on September 22, 2014 after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

She was predeceased by her parents, Roy and Margaret Gathright.

She is survived by her husband John Hodoway of Little Rock, her brother Randall Gathright (Gloria) of Maumelle, her son Brad Stiles (Lisa) of Pasadena, Texas and two grandchildren Shannon Stiles and Andrew Stiles.

Her ashes will be placed in the columbarium at St. James United Methodist Church. A celebration of life service will be held at St. James United Methodist Church, 321 Pleasant Valley Drive, Little Rock on Saturday, September 27, 2014 at 9:00 AM.
