Marilyn S. Dailey, 84, of Little Rock passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2022 at Cavalier Healthcare of England, Ark.
Marilyn was born Oct. 25, 1937 in Marianna, Ark. to James and Emma Simpson and graduated from Marianna High School. The weekend before graduation, she married her husband of 64 years, Alvin L. Dailey who proceeded her in death just 11 months ago.
She worked for AMF Cycle and Jason International before retiring, but even in retirement she stayed busy with babysitting many children over the years, sewing projects for friends, making meals for church members and neighbors, fishing in her pond and cooking what she and Alvin grew in the garden.
She always smelled of Dove soap and swore that using Vaseline every night is what kept her looking young. She was a natural caretaker and did her best to take care of everyone around her. She rivaled any professional chef in the kitchen and was known for her fried chicken, fried catfish and hushpuppies, dumplings, fried potatoes, pecan pies, banana pudding and a long list of other things her grandkids can fill in. Many friends were known to drop by around meal time because they knew there was always enough.
Marilyn raised three children: Keith Dailey (Margie) of England, Ark.; Carl Dailey (Kathi) of Louisburg, Kan.; Shaila Dailey Creekmore (Kevin) of Jonesboro; and was a proud Mamaw to her grandchildren: Andrea, Renee, Brittany, Krystel, Brandy, Tiffany, Jessie, Samuel, Tyler, and 15 great-grandchildren; and many others who she considered her own. Marilyn is also survived by her sister, Jackie Poole of Mountain View; brother, Larry (Virginia) Simpson of Greenwood; brother-in-law Bud Christian of Timbo; and brother-in-law Dale Dailey of Maumelle.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and husband, as well as her brother: William Harold Simpson; sisters: ImaJean Simpson, Maxine Christian, Wanda Ginn, Jimmie Sue Harris and Frankie Lou Head.
Marilyn was a member of Crystal Hill Baptist Church where she made an untold number of pieces of toast and cinnamon toast for all of the preschoolers – and a few lucky youth – every Sunday morning for many years while serving as the preschool director. Later in her life she was an active member of CHBC Senior Citizens where again she was usually found in the kitchen helping to prepare the meal.
The family will host a Visitation that will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 19, 2022 at Crystal Hill Baptist Church with a Memorial Service to begin at 11:00 AM.
Memorials can be made to Crystal Hill Baptist Church, 18823 Crystal Valley Road, Little Rock, AR, 72210.
