On Sunday, February 3, 2008, Marie White Mattingly left this world at the age of 101. She had been a resident at Woodland Hills Health Care, after many years at Parkview Towers in the Quapaw District.
Marie was born in Hickory Flat, Mississippi April 28, 1906, to Jerry and Belle White, the youngest of four children. As a young woman, she worked as a drama teacher and in subsequent years, was in sales, first with her husband, William H. Mattingly, then on her own after his death. She lived in Texas for many years, then moved to Arkansas, first to West Memphis, then Little Rock. Her business took her to all 48 states in the continental U.S.
Mrs. Mattingly was a member of Summit Church of North Little Rock. She is survived by cousins, great nephews and nieces, and many friends who will miss this warm and wonderful woman.
A memorial service will be held for her at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.), on Thursday, February 7, at 3 p.m. She will be buried beside her husband on Friday, February 8 at 11 a.m. at Crittenden Memorial Park, in West Memphis, Arkansas.
