Marian Lee Howard Stoll grew up in St. Louis, Missouri. Her parents Amos Alexander and Jessie Bessie raised five other children (Rosemary, Elizabeth, Martha Jean, Janice and Stephen). Marian met her late husband, Charles Edward Stoll Sr., in Saint Louis and together the raised five children in North Little Rock Arkansas.
Marian was a gifted seamstress, poet, storyteller, musician, and a firecracker. Her sense of humor was rivaled only by her passion for her family. She was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star until her illness prevented her from engaging in the activities she loved so much. Whether at church, at Eastern Star, or in the living room of her home with family, Marian loved to play the piano and organ and could play and sing any song by ear (as long as she could take off her shoes!).
She loved a good road trip. Her CB handle was Gypsy Lady. She made the best chicken spaghetti in the world and knew how to church up anything that came from a can or a box. She loved to play practical jokes and was always engaged in shenanigans. Most of all, she loved her children more than anything in the world. Marian was raised in a Nazarene tradition and often spoke of her mother’s belief in the dangers of pride. However, nothing could stop her from sharing her pride for her children. No conversation lacked mention of her family and how proud she was of her boys and girl.
Marian retired from WalMart after many years as an associate in North Little Rock. She was known for her integrity and dedication to helping shoppers. It was not unusual to see more people in her check-out line than other lines because her customers and friends found her company and customer service well worth the extra wait in line. In addition, she was a Customer Service Manager for several years and took pride in her responsibilities and the opportunity to mentor younger colleagues.
Marian was poised, graceful and devoted to her church and her children. She was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church in North Little Rock and loved Jesus with all her heart. She continues to be an example of strength, passion, determination and fierce love to all who knew her.
Marian is preceded in death by her husband, Charles (Charlie), and her sons Stephen and Leslie, and sisters Rosemary, Elizabeth and Martha Jean. Her survivors include sons Charles Edward Jr. (Kriss), Clayton (Liz), and Michelle. Her grandchildren include Sheila, April, Christine, Charles Edward Jr., Jessica, Abigail, Mark, Brandy, Bryan, Karley, Mychael, Ariah and David, a well as several great and great-great grandchildren.
